On January 15, 2008, Peter and David of Oscars hosted the 20th monthly Quiz Night in aid of Thais4Life Charity bookshop, reports PGReport.com.

The bar was full with teams taking part in the quiz which was prepared by Printer Graham, Peter (right) was Quiz Master for the evening whilst John, Stanley, Wally and Graham marked the papers. Light refreshments were supplied by Terry.

As is usual on Quiz Nights the "Guess How Much is in the Penny Jar" (which can be found on the bar at Oscars) started off the evening with customers attempting to guess how much the jar contained.

The jar's contents had been counted earlier in the day and the total was 6,349 baht and the closest guess was Norman Vernon with 6,320.

The quiz ended in a tie (not a Thai) between the Know-Alls and Sons of the Desert (or is that Dessert), but Know-Alls were declared the winners after correctly guessing host Peter's year of birth (we have been asked not publish that the answer was, in fact, 1969).

The Know-Alls won a litre bottle of JW Whisky which they kindly donated back to be used for future fund-raising.

In third place was Triple Threat.

Proceeds from the actual Quiz totalled 5,502 baht and during the evening Norman Vernon donated 7,000 baht to Thais4Life to support their activities and a further 3,000 baht to purchase another 30 blankets for the children at Jing Jai Orphanage.

In accepting the donations, David thanked Norman for his generosity, and reminded patrons that Norman himself, is the driving force behind the current project of building a swimming pool at Camillian Centre in Rayong.

Totals receipts for the evening therefore amounted to 21,851 baht.
