Pattaya Gay Festival Parade 2002
from the "Boxer archives"

Back in 2002 the PGF used to "take to the streets" on World Aids Day together with the schools of Pattaya.

Our good friend Brian "Boxer", who sadly passed away last November (2007), was there to record the event. Here are just some of his photographs. We hope you enjoy them.

Boxer reported at the time:
"It was touch and go with the weather as a huge rain storm gathered overhead on Beach Road at the assembly time of 3 pm. It dampened the spirits a little but the march had to go on all along Beach Road and back up Second Road to Central Road. The fun in the rain went on and on pressing home the Love Life theme and Safe Sex messages

"The Parade was huge and the floats and walkers far too many to count. Not even the rain could stop the fun and the high spirits of the walkers and followers. Beach Road came to a standstill and every dry standing point was full of onlookers and friends. Another great success for the City and Pattaya Gay Festival.

"The City Mayor and his Deputy took the salute as many Pattaya City Schools passed bye and showed the world that they were well informed on Aids, Safe Sex and Drug use. Some of the floats and displays were imaginative and lots of fun with many smiles even in the downpour that lasted for all the parade

"The Marchers' were wet and in need of a change of clothes but many gathered into Boyztown only to find the electricity had gone off because of the storm. Understandably many drifted away but all was restored after a time and the party in the bars carried on into the night in rehearsal for the Street Party on Monday."
