Chonburi Buffalo races 2003 from the "Boxer archives" Chonburi Buffalo Race takes place annually on a day before the full moon of the 11th lunar month (October or November), concurrently with the end of the 3-month Buddhist Lent. In the festival, water buffaloes and their jockeys will be decorated with colourful cloth bands, flower garlands and other ornaments before vying to win the race. Along side the buffalo race are the buffalo fancy dressing contest, the healthy buffalo contest and Miss Farmer Pageant, other Thai sports including the very popular "climbing the slippery pole to grab the 100 Baht notes", plus a fun fair and lots of entertainment. Boxer was there in October 2003 and took these wonderful photos. We do hope you enjoy them.
